Another Color

Another Color is the description used for a series of character designs posted on Kitayume by Himaruya. The designs are alternate colors of characters within Hetalia. Though none of them have been given canon personalities, Himaruya said he'd drawn them as though they ran an evil organization.

Axis Trio

The Axis Trio are the only non-Nyotalia characters to receive full official secondary colorings.

Italy

Main Article: Italy

Another color Italy's expression is calmer than his counterpart's. His skin is slightly darker, and his eyes are open as opposed to Italy's eyes typically being closed. They are pinkish-purple in color. His hair is a darker auburn. His uniform is brown with a black shirt and tie underneath, with red tassels dangling from his pants. He wears dark, laceless boots. His hands are adorned with black gloves, with one of his hands holding a knife. He has a medal on his left breast pocket and an insignia on the left sleeve of his jacket. He also wears matching brown Bustina cap with a dark purple tassle coming out of it. His outfit bears a resemblance to the country's old fascist uniform.

In another drawing, the insignia is drawn in more detail. His hair is shown to be slicked back under the hat. He is depicted with his typical, air-headed expressions in these sketches.

Himaruya noted that Italy looks like a bad boy, which he liked.

Germany

Germany's counterpart bears a scar on his left cheek and three long, deep scars down his right forearm. His hair is slightly cooler-toned than his counterpart's. His eyes are purple, dark lines being shown underneath them. He is depicted with a white tank top with a high-collared brown jacket laid across his shoulders. His pants are black, his left pocket being adorned with a cross and chain. He also wears a brown cap and matching brown gloves. He wears an iron cross around his neck like his counterpart. He carries a large knife as well.

Japan

Japan is depicted with a scowl on his face, differing from his counterpart's lack of expression. His hair is slightly more red-toned and his eyes are red. He wears a black version of Japan's uniform, a uniform of the imperial Japanese navy, as well as a long, purple cape and white gloves. Japan has worn a similar uniform in several strips and official artwork. Like his counterpart, this Japan carries a katana, though he handles it in his right hand as opposed to his left.

In another drawing, he is shown to be wearing a military cap. It outlines the diamond details on his sleeve cuffs. He is depicted with a fox companion.

Japan was the first character to be drawn with a secondary color on Himaruya's old Yahoo blog. Back then, he was simply called "kuro nihonsan," wich eventually became his human name within the fandom.

Nyotalia

1p! Nyotalia vs. 2p! Nyotalia

Main Article: 2p! Nyotalia

Nyotalia is the title given to the gender-swapped versions of the countries. Himaruya released fully colored chibis of the Nyo! Axis, Allies, Canada, and Prussia, making these some of the only canon Another Color designs, despite everyone but the Axis trio not having their own Another Color designs themselves.

Ally Sketches

In 2013, Himaruya released sketches of the Allies under the 2p! label. Their designs are not canon, as they were never finalized. Several of the file titles include "2p" in the name, the origin of the term.

America

Main Article: America

The first concept shows America in a very formal suit and cape while holding a book. The second shows him wearing a tank top and dog tags. He wears military pants and combat boots. His gloved hands are holding a rifle and a military jacket. He lacks his typical glasses. In both sketches, he is smiling.

England

England is depicted with a similar look to his counterpart. The most notable difference is his happy demeanor. England has his normal hair style. His suit is similar to his counterpart's, but with more embellishments, such as shoulder pads and medallions on his chest. He is holding a baton in his right hand. He also wears gloves.

France

France's hair is pulled back into a ponytail. He has stubble on his chin, the same as his counterpart's. He wears a sort of military uniform with a beret. Some kind of long fabric swirls around his legs. He holds a rifle, possibly a bayonet. He has a serious expression on his face.

Russia

One concept shows him somewhat modest and shy. He is holding a shovel and wearing a fuzzy hat. He wears many layers of winter clothing and a longer scarf.

Another concept shows him wearing a flashy military uniform with lots of medals and a military hat with a brim. He lacks his typical scarf. He is shown holding a pistol with a long cape down his back.

The final concept is him wearing a thick overcoat and holding bundles of sunflowers. He wears a fuzzy hat and is smiling and cheerful. He is depicted wearing his scarf.

China

Main Article: China

The first concept shows him with short hair in the same style as his counterpart. He wears a military uniform and a military-style hat with a brim. Bandages are wrapped around his ankles and he carries a bayonet. His expression is serious.

The second concept shows him with longer hair than his counterpart, with only part of it being tied back. He wears an extravagant jeweled outfit and is holding a jeweled sword. He wears a decadent cape that reaches the ground when he sits. He is shown to be smirking.

Romano

Main Article: South Italy

In 2013, Himaruya published a sketch of 2p! Romano. He is depicted wearing his typical military outfit with a fancier collar. He also has on a brimmed military cap and an asymmetrical cape adorned with medals. He is smiling and holding a tomato. The sketch was posted alongside a sketch of his 1p! counterpart.

Poland

In 2008, Himaruya published a recolor of Poland wearing a blue variant of his uniform with the description "2P color." Himaruya mentioned Eastern, Southern, and Northern Europe being among the next characters that he would think up secondary colors for.

Austria

Along with rough sketches of 2p! Italy and 2p! Japan, Himaruya published a rough sketch of 1p! Japan and a rough sketch of Austria in a unique uniform. This may or may not be a sketch for a 2p! version of Austria. In the sketch, Austria is depicted wearing a long, fluffy coat and is holding some sort of long item. He still wears his typical glasses.

Ukraine

A colored sketch of Ukraine was published in 2011 with differing colors than usual. As this was within the time period where Himaruya was creating 2p! designs, this may be a draft for 2p! Ukraine. In the sketch, her eyes are orange. She wears a brown shawl over a magenta dress with an orange flower on the hip. She also wears a matching magenta headband with an orange flower decoration. She appears to be holding an orange mug.
